Nailing the Brief

Figuring out the right accent for the brief takes Rupert a fun couple of minutes, and always includes playing with options until everybody is happy.

National Accents

Rupert’s exceptional imitator’s ear means he can do pretty much any accent, but it’s his ability to showcase the differences between regions and cities that really sets him apart. “From an African woman, to Scottish twins, Rupert has tackled every character I’ve thrown at him with aplomb. Hard or soft sell, straight, emotional, raving lunatic, or anything in between – scripts come alive with Rupert’s skill and professionalism, because he brings so much more to a session than just incredible vocal talent. He works hard to understand the desired outcome and always aims high. I’ve yet to find something he can’t do, talented bugger.”

Rupert prides himself in nailing celebrity impressions. From movie stars and sports stars, to comedians, commentators and politicians, Rupert will give anyone a go. And if he can’t get it, he’ll be the first to put up his hand and recommend one of his talented voice actor buddies instead.

“Pick any celebrity or character, irrespective of age or gender (or species), and have an in-depth conversation with them via Rupert as the medium. It’s shivers-down-the-spine freaky. Working with Rupert is always electrifying. Although “work” isn’t the right word because you’re not supposed to laugh that much at work.”

Voice Actor for Video Games

You could say that Rupert was one of the pioneers of voice acting in video games, working on vintage classics such as Simon the Sorcerer, Three Skulls of the Toltecs and The Feeble Files back in the 1990s.  Since then he has notched up some fifty titles, playing everyone from FBI agents, US Marines and maniacal villains to camp robots, petulant princes, and cantankerous wizards.  He is probably best known for portraying Voldemort, Severus Snape and Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the Hogwarts professor in Wonderbook: Book of Spells.
